Final Video

Image
For the final video I decided to edit clips of mass shootings together and add audio from debates and interviews on top that slowly overlap to the point that you can't understand anything that's being said. I wanted to do this because I feel like society and news network politicize shootings to the point that the conversation gets lost and nothing will get done. The video reflects how I see every debate about gun reform go where they stop talking about the lives lost and instead focus just on the guns and what they would do with their guns and just forget that it isn't about them, it's about the lives being lost because the U.S. Government can't make a decision on how to solve the issue at hand. It becomes more of a debate about whether there is a gun issue or not. Which obviously there is an issue with guns in America. That's what the video clips I used show. The high number mass shootings in America is a product of the gun culture of America. I didn'

Music

1. Studio Killers - Virtual I consider the Studio Killers to fit into the virtual movement because they are not only a virtual band, but also refuse to identify themselves in real life, which solidifies themselves as a virtual band. Their music is also very nontraditional, as they are made up of one singer and two DJ's and their music is only mad up from vocals and synthesizers. 2. Robert Delong - House I consider House to best fit Robert Delong because of his use of manipulating his own voice with various instruments he builds himself and the style of his music is easy to dance to and be able to enjoy in a club. 3. Alle Farben - Electronic Producer/DJ Culture I chose Alle Farben for DJ Culture because of the presentation of his music in concert and his use of technology as his instrument. He also rarely ever lacks any vocal element in his songs, which I think makes him more similar to the DJ culture and to what DJ Khaled is doing, than to EDM. 4. Poppy - Techno

Performance Art

Image
For the performance art project I was inspired originally inspired by Tatsumi Hijikata for the creepiness of his animation, but I soon discovered Benjamin Bennet, who had also managed to create an air of creepy by sitting motionless for hours. I wanted my performance to be a contradiction, in that I am lit up to symbolize the light of life, but remain motionless to create this kind of unnatural feeling to see if that contradiction would unsettle people. That response of being unsettled was what I mainly got from people, especially kids. I was mistaken as a statue until people walked past and I could see them kinda jump and stare at me as they walked past, most people were afraid to get close to me which I found interesting because I was essentially just sitting still, nothing that people would say they get creeped out by, but upon being faced with it they would keep about 10 feet away. For the technology aspect, I wrapped myself in battery powered string lights, which made peopl

Grid Art

Image
For the grid art assignment I decided to do H3H3 from his Vape Nation video because I wanted to make something inspired from something I enjoy, so it expresses more of who I am. I used beads and it creates this cool effect when you lift the piece up where you can see through the beads so it makes the actual image harder to see.

Flip Book

Image
When I created the flip book I really want it to have a sketch style, not super detailed but not too basic. I started off with the idea of having an eye turn into something else, I didn't know what until I actually started and that was the mentality I continued with. I didn't really plan everything out because I had never had to do 200 frames in animation so I didn't want to create a plan just for it to fall apart while creating it.

ASCII Art

Image
After looking at several different styles of ASCII art, I found that I personally enjoy the higher detailed pieces. I'm a big fan of pixel art so ASCII art was very interesting to me and I like seeing the grid that forms in the more detailed pieces. The piece with Gandhi was really interesting to me because it wasn't just random letters and symbols used, it actually uses words from one of his speeches and just changes the colors of the letters to create his face. I thought that was a really creative take on this type of art. I don't know if I would ever have the patience to use ASCII in this manner, but I do enjoy the end result. I would struggle to actually map out a grid and figure out what needs to go where since its not as fluid as using a pen or paintbrush. The amount of time it takes to plan it all out is what I think would be my downfall. The creativity surrounding ASCII art to be able to create something out of symbols on a computer is really amazing. I thin

Art and Technology Assignment 3

The Bionic Hand The bionic hand is the future of prosthetics because of its ability to allow the user to move the fingers by themselves. It was invented in 2007 by David Gow and is formally named the iLIMB. It uses its own motor-control system to allow the fingers, thumb, and palm to move independently of each other. The technology behind the iLIMB is drawn from the prosthetics that are common today and modern computers. The furthest back we’ve traced the use of prosthetics is to Ancient Egypt with a prosthetic big toe. The big toe prosthetic was more practical and did not require movement as its only purpose was to keep the sandal from falling off. When prosthetic limbs started to appear they, like the big toe, lack movement and were mainly used for a specific purpose, such as with General Marcus Serguis of the Ancient Roman military who had an iron arm that he used to hold his shield. Prosthetics remained the same up until Ambroise ParĂ©, who introduced hinged p
