After watching several excerpts of Broadway shows on Angel de Quinta's Stage Door Blog, I was able to appreciate Broadway more than ever. I am not that much of a fan of Broadway, I do like the movie adaptations like Chicago though. After looking through the blog I found that I generally like the very upbeat and high paced songs and that I just expect Broadway shows to be very high energy.

One of my favorites on the blog was Meet Me in St. Louis. I liked that one because it was upbeat and just generally happy, but it was also one of the only shows to maintain my attention because of the dancing. Everything was very dramatic and the movements were extravagant. I didn't really need to listen to the words because the music and the dancing kept me interested. The songs are really catchy too and they got stuck in my head after listening.

The other favorite of my from the blog was the West Coast cast of HAIR. I
 really enjoyed the movement throughout that one too. The use of moving so slowly to create the feeling of slow motion and to create the vibe of the use of drugs was really interesting, especially when the lead singer began and it all just sort of came together. Now that I'm writing this all out I think the element of Broadway that I appreciate most is the dancing and just movement of the actors in general, that's what really drives me to keep watching.

For the performance art project I was inspired originally inspired by Tatsumi Hijikata for the creepiness of his animation, but I soon discovered Benjamin Bennet, who had also managed to create an air of creepy by sitting motionless for hours. I wanted my performance to be a contradiction, in that I am lit up to symbolize the light of life, but remain motionless to create this kind of unnatural feeling to see if that contradiction would unsettle people. Final Video

For the final video I decided to edit clips of mass shootings together and add audio from debates and interviews on top that slowly overlap to the point that you can't understand anything that's being said. I wanted to do this because I feel like society and news network politicize shootings to the point that the conversation gets lost and nothing will get done. The video reflects how I see every debate about gun reform go where they stop talking about the lives lost and instead focus just on the guns and what they would do with their guns and just forget that it isn't about them, it's about the lives being lost because the U.S. Government can't make a decision on how to solve the issue at hand. It becomes more of a debate about whether there is a gun issue or not. Which obviously there is an issue with guns in America. That's what the video clips I used show. Studio Killers - Virtual I consider the Studio Killers to fit into the virtual movement because they are not only a virtual band, but also refuse to identify themselves in real life, which solidifies themselves as a virtual band. Their music is also very nontraditional, as they are made up of one singer and two DJ's and their music is only mad up from vocals and synthesizers. 2. Robert Delong - House I consider House to best fit Robert Delong because of his use of manipulating his own voice with various instruments he builds himself and the style of his music is easy to dance to and be able to enjoy in a club. 3. Alle Farben - Electronic Producer/DJ Culture I chose Alle Farben for DJ Culture because of the presentation of his music in concert and his use of technology as his instrument.
